¡Feliz día mundial de los cuidados paliativos!

Hace unos 15 años, durante una conferencia de la Atención Domiciliaria del Enfermo Crónico (ADEC), conocí a una encantadora mujer, Maria Salas, de Austin Texas (see photo above). Nacida y crecida en la ciudad de México, ella estaba cuidando de una hermana quien estaba enferma y en etapa terminal de cáncer. Ella me dijo, ¨necesitamos tus libros de cuidados paliativos traducidos al Español para las personas de México…¨ y durante la siguiente década ella continuó hablando conmigo sobre esta idea. En la primavera del 2017 Ted y yo viajamos a la ciudad de México, nos encontramos con María, Dra Silvia Allende, Maricela Salas, Cynthia , Noemi , Dra Celina Castenada, Dr Jorge Ramos, Dr Alexandro Quiroz, Dra Monica Osio, y otras personas para explorar la idea de traducir y adaptar nuestro libro de enfermería al Español.
Durante los siguientes tres años y con la ayuda de un fabuloso equipo de doctores del cuidado paliativo, enfermeras y psicólogos, logramos traducir, adaptar y publicar nuestro libro de enfermería en Español. Estamos encantados y emocionados por este recurso y felices de compartirlo con los profesionales de la salud que hablan Español.
Este año celebramos el día mundial de los cuidados paliativos ofreciendo UN MES GRATIS de acceso a nuestra biblioteca digital en Español, Lo Esencial en Cuidedos Paliativos: Un Recurso Practico en Enfermeria para nuestros colegas cuyo idioma nativo es el Español. Al finalizar el mes, serán invitados a compartir sus opiniones sobre los recursos, proveer sus testimonios, se les preguntará si desean compartir el libro con otras personas y si les gustaría tener acceso a la biblioteca digital por un mes más.

Hospice and Palliative Care Day!
About 15 years ago, at an ADEC (Association for Death Education and Counseling) conference I met a lovely woman, Maria Salas, from Austin Texas (see photo above) Born and raised in Mexico City, she was caring for a sister who was ill and dying from cancer. She said to me, ‘We need your palliative care books translated into Spanish for the people of Mexico….” and for the next decade she continued to talk with me about this idea. In the spring of 2017 Ted and I went to Mexico City, met with Maria, Dra Silvia Allende, Maricela Salas, Cynthia Arzate, Maricela Salas, Noemi Hernandez, Ana Luisa Alvarez, Dra Celina Castenada, Dr Jorge Ramos, Dr Alexandro Quiroz, Dra Monica Osio, and others to explore the idea of adapting and translating our nursing text into Spanish.
Over the next three years, with help from a fabulous team of palliative care doctors, nurses, psychologists, we did in deed adapt, translate and publish our nursing text in Spanish. We are delighted and excited about this resource and happy to share it with Spanish speaking health care providers.
This year on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day we are celebrating by offering ONE MONTH FREE access to our Spanish digital library “Lo Esencial en Cuidedos Paliativos: Un Recurso Practico en Enfermeria” for our Spanish speaking colleagues. At the end of one month, you will be invited to share your thoughts about the resources, provide a testimonial, you will be asked if you would like to help share the book with others, and if you would like to have access to the digital book for two more months.
