The CHPCA gathering begins today in St John’s Newfoundland, with a preconference symposium on Incorporating End of Life Care Competencies into Education, and a discussion of Interprofessional Issues and Challenges. The competencies developed for undergraduate medical students, social work students, and students in the BSN program will be presented, followed by a discussion of interprofessional education in Canada.
I would like to see funding to develop competencies for the core curriculum for Practical Nurses. With the expanded scope of the PN, it seems imperative that they are explosed to the basics of Hospice Palliative Care theory and skill during their core education. Any comments on this?
