This comprehensive webinar, led by Terry (Theresa) Downing, explored the various applications of the Palliative Performance Scale (PPS). Participants learned how the tool could be used for accurate patient assessment, clinical decision-making, and tracking changes in functional status. The session also covered the importance of proper PPS implementation along with common pitfalls to ensure its effectiveness, with detailed guidance on interpreting scores and understanding the core domains. Terry also welcomes anybody to email her with any questions, comments or clarification needed about PPS.
This was a wonderful learning experience. Invite your students, colleagues, and your families to listen to this session. You may also want to share these resources at work.
Learning Outcomes:
- Define the purpose and clinical significance of the Palliative Performance Scale in person centered care
- Accurately assess and score patients using the five core domains of the PPS(ambulation, activity/disease, self-care, intake, and consciousness level)
- Interpret PPS scores to inform clinical decision-making and care planning
- Demonstrate the ability to track and document changes in functional status over time using the PPS

Marvellous!
Is there any way to get the Power Point to print so that we can watch and have a copy for staff.
We have recently been engaged in palliative care with our clients both in LTC, RH and in their own homes, this tool is so very useful, to help us and help the Nurses attending the clients, to ensure we are all understanding the Journey through palliative care.
Thank you for your time, effort to bring this information out to all!
Warmest regards,
