FREE November Webinar – The Skinny on Skin Care: Everyone has a role in preventing wounds.

We are excited to announce that Kimberly LeBlanc, a nurse who specializes in skin health will be our guest speaker on  November 5, 2024.

In the realm of healthcare, Personal Support Workers (PSWs) stand as unsung heroes, particularly in long-term care facilities. Their importance cannot be overstated, as they form the backbone of daily care for residents, ensuring both their physical well-being and emotional comfort.

Kim will discuss the role of the PSW as part of the interdisciplinary team in helping to prevent skin tears and pressure injuries, what to observe and report re skin health, and strategies the PSW can use to improve skin health.  She will also address common misconception and provide current tips!

Kim will also introduce a new online skin health program developed specifically for PSWs. Life and Death Matters will provide one free registration to a participant in the webinar, for this online course.

*This event is sponsored by NSWOCC

After the webinar you will be able to:

  • Describe the unique role support workers, health care assistants and caregivers play in maintaining skin health
  • Identify how/what to report to the nurse re observations/concerns about skin health
  • Identify three strategies to maintain skin health, and to assist skin in healing. (or change the wording here?)

  1. Hello! What a wonderful idea for a webinar!

I am an educator and was wondering if this free webinar is open to PSW students (not yet graduated but are either in their theory classes or in practicum) and other medical studies students?

    Thank you and take care.

    1. Hello,
Yes, the webinar is open to everyone. The focus of this webinar is PSWs – but we usually have other health care team members who really enjoy the learning as well!
And, PSW students will love it!
It might be a good idea to watch it as a class, so that we have enough space for all the registrants.
Please give my regards to the students!
      Kath

      1. Thank you Kath! That is amazing! That is a great idea to watch it as a class! After the seminar, the class can break out into small discussion groups and truly dive deep into the contents learned!

Thank you for replying and thank you for all that you do.

        Take care.
